Idle speed adjustment?
I was reading around of several reason as to why im probably getting a hard shift between 1 and 2nd and one of them suggested to check idle speed and trying to adjust via the screw on the IACV, i tried turning it to the point were it stripped a little bit, i dont want to keep trying it cuz obviously its pretty tight. My question is is there any other available way of adjusting the idle?

BTW its an automatic.

Edit: Other topics pointed towards

1. Clutch band
2. speed sensor
3. something about cleaning out a spring inside the accumulator if its located outside

Did you pull the TPS sensor? For some reason I think that has something to do with it. Also you could try manually resetting the ECU

ok i just did a reset , im not sure if its the same as doing self diagnostic mode where you turn the ECU screw. I did get a code 5 long flashes and 5 short ones. What code is that? Also i noticed it smoothed the hard shift from 1-2nd, i hope it keeps like that.

P0505----"IAC-AAC Valve" <----???

code 55 means all clear. If you had P0505 stored in your ECU before you reset it then you will see it again soon most likely. IAC-AAC stands for Idle Air Control - Auxiliary Air Control. It's the thing on the very end of your plenum that you adjust your idle by. It may need to be replaced, or cleaned. They tend to get gunked up over many miles.

Exactly what i thought, i just cleaned it out it wasn't really dirty but i still cleaned it out. Now i'll wait and see if it gives the code again some other time than i'll go ahead and replace it.

Whats your idle at now? Make sure you get the car warmed up and driven a bit and check again in a parking lot or something. Also rev it up in neutral to like 6000rpms once or twice then see where it falls to afterwards.

And yeah as tswii said, 0505 is a good thing.

sounds dumb but if it's an auto, when was the last time you changed the fluid and filter?
