Popped a spring on a Clutchmaster's FX300 disc with stock GA16DE power.

These threads always end up the same, ACT sucks, Clutchmasters sucks, Spec sucks, etc etc etc etc. I don't think there's one clutch company out there that people haven't had issues with in terms of product failure.

Clutchmasters seems to have quite the good record, if not perfect.

I've never heard of a Valeo failure.

Buddy, everything was installed correctly. It went for 5k miles IIRC before the metal around one of the springs just failed and cracked off. It didn't even happen under hard shifting, just bam.. could not get in and out of 3rd gear.

I've had my act clutch in my ser for 10 years and 150k miles. It even survived 50 and 100 shots of nitrous. I recently replaced my broken b13 tranny with a b14 tranny and reused the old act pp with new b15 disc. The only problem I have is the oem tob is shorter than the one from act kit and at times causes a stiff pedal. Otherwise it drives fine, when I took the tranny off it was missing one of the dowel pins. The original act disk had a spring come out which made stick in 2nd gear.

PLEASE INSURE A FEW THINGS WHEN INSTALLING A CLUTCH LIKE....

DOWEL PINS- YOU NEED THEM.
THROW OUT BEARING CLIPS- NEED TO BE NEW
CLUTCH ALIGNMENT TOOL NEEDED

Going to have to disagree on the clutch alignment tool, I've used my finger on several swaps now an none have ever had clutch issues, its a fact that the clutch gets centered the first time you press the clutch pedal in. The rest is spot on.

Did you ever find out where that hunk of metal came from?
