Someone put a QG18 stack in there with the B15 FD? Because the pinion won't line up and will whir like crazy.

Have you dropped it to pop it open to check things I know you said its your daily driver ? Or even check the input bearings . Ive seen someone for get to put the spacer/shim on the end of the stack under that small cover on the outer case it will cause the gear stack to shift outwards making the stacks miss aligned. there is another shim/spacer inside the trans that needs to be there .

Next time let me rebuild it if you want it done right lol.

Edit: Oh it is pretty loud?

Its pretty loud in 4th and 5th at 45-50 mph after that the wind/road noise helps hide it.I have a header and 2.5 exhaust and drive with the windows up and ac on most of the time.I suppose with the windows down at 55+ mph I wouldnt hear it as bad,but damn I was trying to upgrade to get a newer trans and already sold my B13 trans.
Like if you are riding in gear and ease in and out of the throttle is where you can really tell.It reminds me of an old truck I had just before the rear diff blew up.

Wow,I have been using MT90 for over 10 years with no problems(or noises) whatsoever...in fact I did have a B14 trans years ago that whined a little in 4th when I got it,and MT 90 made it quieter

I am just a bolted DE so its not the power. This was purchased in preparation for a future VE swap, but now I have to wonder how its gonna act when I have some power and especially high RPM shifting.

Oh no...not what I wanted to hear...I thought that gearstack was an option for the B15 trans?...Wasnt it you that figured that out back when you grenaded a B15 transNow I am really confused
All I was told that the 2nd gear synchros had a problem that was repaired...what exactly was repaired was not disclosed.Maybe they only changed second...I may never know the truth at this point,or what to believe for that matter.
I am sure if I hadnt noticed the silicone and contacted the seller,I would not have even had that info.

I am trying really hard not to be a dick about this,so I am gonna see what happens first before all the drama starts.
I have gotten a PM from the seller. He saw this thread and now wants to "make it right" somehow. Its to be expected, when I could post pics/videos,leave feedback or post in the buyer/seller section, etc.
I didnt do any of that, and I kindly replied that I posted this thread for advice on the noise, not to throw him to the dogs.If this guy was a total noob,I would have had no mercy after being ripped off by a couple in the past.
I dont know what to do just yet, looking for some advice. How do you make this right, when it was clearly dishonest?Money may make me feel a little better ,but it wont drop my trans and fix it.
It also wont help other member be aware of who to be careful dealing with. This was a business transaction to him apparently. For me,it was like dealing with friends or family...my bad

Yes its my daily, and I dont have time to go through all that.It was hard enough to find the time to swap it in by myself.I have never rebuilt or taken apart a trans...dont care to either.More than likely,I would not what to look for or how to fix it anyway.
I thought I was gonna be good for a while after spending half the value of my car on a tranny
I will keep that rebuild offer in mind,if you were closer,I would pay you to check this one out for me.
Theres no question in my mind that the trans was not tested IN A CAR before being sold.If it was,it had one hell of a loud exhaust drowning it out,or someones deaf to not hear the whine.

Bottom line.
Aside from other issues with this deal...The trans was rebuilt, and sold without disclosing the rebuild until I got it.
I am glad he seems to want to "make this right"...but it was still wrong and dishonest from the get go.
Its like the saying married people use..

So what do YOU GUYS think would "make this right"?
Should I just keep it to myself and get a couple hundred bucks back,or say fuckit, count my losses, suck it up,and probably and let everyone know who it was??

update, The seller refunded over half my money for the trans.,so basically I got a whiney B15 trans for the price of a B13 trans. Not so bad after all,I guess.
He wanted to try to make things right since he says he didnt know the trans had problems.
I think thats a cool thing to do,in fact he wanted to give me more, but I refused since he was working with me on this.

Really a whole thread on this. I told you switch out that junk mt90 fluid. I understand a perfect condition trans with the mt90 fluid shouldnt wine but fact is mt90 is crap water fluid. Seriously. Never had any luck with it. Take a good trans that didnt wine and put that crap in there and it will most certainly wine. Not saying its not compensating for some wear but still. You got the trans for a hell of a deal either way.

No I swapped the gearstacks for a lower mileage gearstack and rebuilt properly with all shims in place after he had mt90 in it to begin with and shifting went to crap and during some races he slammed into a wall going into 3rd several times and ruined the syncro and then later it would pop out. After the swap of the stacks he used mobil 1 75w90 and everything was fine, no whinning, no problems shifting, raced it many times without problems.

Again to say that he didnt tell you it was out of his car that was in a wreck is stupid, people pull trannies from wrecked vehicles all the time with alot worse damage without issues. There is nothing delicate inside that can really get damaged by a wreck.

And to say he didnt tell you it was raced/abused. What do you think we do with our cars. He had it attached to a 200whp ve. Come on.

Anyways he took care of you because he is a good guy and he didnt know there was anything wrong or he would have originally sold it to you for alot cheaper.

I told you to switch out that mt90, if you dont it will continue to whine and continue to get worse. That stuff is about as thin as water. Not good by any means. Yes it helps get the most power to the ground because of its high viscosity and low friction but it also causes wear and whinning. Put some conventional or some other synthetic fluid in there.

Eggman, You were cool as hell to meet at the convention but there is no need for the bashing.

The pedal was modified by me, im not a professional welder and you know what, its been in his car for 4 years now and hasnt had a single problem even with the shitty weld. It was good enough to hold for 4 years. And thats what you have to do to make a b15 pedal work in a b13/b14. You have to modify the pedal. Its not straight bolt in. You have to remove the spacer off the firewall, cut the ones from the b15 pedal, shorten the top of the pedal and weld on another piece of steel to match up to the upper bolt location. It may not be the prettiest but its 100% functional and 100% reliable as he never had a single problem with it.

So if you want to say it was monkey welded together by all means, that was my shitty welding because thats what I had to work with at the time I did it. But hasnt failed yet and probably wont ever. If you dont like it, reweld it. I know what you got the trans and the clutch conversion kit for that you dont have to do any work to other than remove the spacer from your firewall and drill the new holes once its aligned properly. So again, no need for any critisizm. My custom modded pedal has been in my car just as long without issues as well. Same shitty welding. My buddy stuck to his word. Either way like I told you, if the noise is that bad to you, switch the gear oil out to something with some thickness to it instead of that water.
