supposedly it was just replaced prior to my purchase....
....Which I found out after receiving it and noticing the non-nissan RTV on the case

More than likely it was beat on and/ or the rebuild was not done correctly.

This is annoying as hell in 4th and 5th cruising when you can hear the tranny over the exhaust, but I guess I gotta live with it for a while.

...so much for trusting members here(that are not noobs,BTW)
I guess its my fault for assuming theres nothing wrong with it,if theres no details posted other than good working used trans...just a pic.

Not trying to start any shit,,but the deal was shady, and dishonest IMO.
I am pretty sure this member got out of the sr game,so it dont matter to him.
However ,his "buddy" is still on here and very well known(to say the least)

end of rant...but I cant help it when I drive my car 5- or more miles every day,and have to turn up the radio to overcome whining. The B13 trans I replaced had 135,000 miles and silentas can be

....The B15 trans( I think it was you) that you sold Larry was clean as fawk and still going strong and quiet....many miles of abuse(spray)I helped him install it back then.Wish I got a trans that clean.

The transmission in my B15 Sentra (125K miles) whines a little bit and it's never been opened or abused in the past. I've always put GL-4 in it too. Even the transmission on my RWD DET whines a bit. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever heard a silent Nissan transmission in all my years. It's certainly not louder than my exhaust though. I usually notice it in the first two gears, especially in my Sentra since it's all stock. At speed though, I never hear it over the road noise. It shifts perfectly fine, and I never see metal shavings on the plug when I change the oil, so I'm not too worried about it.

Mine did this and it was the clutch, it exploded...now the car is at the scrap yard, i even lost my spare tire(so much rust in the trunk) wtf

btw i'm in Canada.

sell it and buy an NX2000, so much better in every way....Even the 200sx se-r is much better quality

Gear whine is from the gears not being shimmed (aligned) properly 99% of the time like Nate said. If it is a slight noise, you could just ignore it forever and be okay.

Edit: Oh it is pretty loud?

Yep. the only time I had whine in a gear box was after a poor attempt to rebuild by the dealer. It did not last long before it destroyed 1st,2nd and 3rd at the same time. it was my daily driver ga16de powered 200sx too so you know it was not from power.
