Thread: trans question

the washer in this pic what gear stack does it go on? i cant tell if it ends up on the reverse gear or one of the other stacks. reason being i disassembled a b13 box that was hard to shift turns out 2 of the bolts holding the shift forks were lose and now i dont remember where that washer goes.

To the left of the gear stack where the short single gear is. Put the wash on top of that gear. Don't ask what purpose it serves cuz I have no clue but that's where it goes

It is a shim that aligns the shaft. If the shim is wrong you can have issues lining the gears up. there could be slop in the transmission and that shaft could move back and forth. Not good. That shim allows the stack to be perfectly placed so the case doesn't crack when putting it together, tight enough to prevent movement.

so it goes on the revers gear?

Pull the reverse gear shaft up and out and make sure the washer or shim is on top of the gear.
