As the saying goes

Buy a good product once than buy a crappy product 2-3 times over!!
Its funny, I would much rather buyer a used (good condition) name brand product that may be slightly more expensive than its knock off counterpart (in most cases anyways.........)

I would cheap out on a catch can, but I WONT cheap out on a good quality set of cams for example.......Why? Because if they break, that few dollars I saved by going with "cheap" products, just cost me 10x as much in engine damage!! No thanks.............

Dema tried to build a turbo setup for under $1k, ended up ditching the idea because it simply wasn't feasible.

Basically it comes down to this.
Simple Bolt-On Build: $1k
Simple Turbo Build: $3k
200whp+ NA Build:

If u think a 200whp na build is a black hole, what do u consider 250whp +++ builds lol.

Stratton.

a 200whp n/a build is very easily done with a good tune on a VE Calum realtime, ssac header, 3" exhaust no cat, 3" intake w/ pop charger, pullies, flywheel and a good tune will make 200whp.

True but were talking $450 plus for the realtime alone.

For only 200whp N/A Id be sticking with a SAFC2 or NEO. ALot of guys have pulled 200whp cheaply with that setup.

Well I said 200+ whp is a black hole.

I had at least $3k worth of turbo parts and VE, then additional $400 for N1 cams and still was 10whp shy of 200whp. If I was staying NA I would be pissed, but since I went to boost it's not as bad.

It all adds up.

I currently have a jwt pp and b15 disk setup, though it's approaching 60k miles on it and I had gotten it used.

budget build over 6 yrs

I've done every ounce of the work myself...only because I'm on a budget. Budget builds are definitely a slow learning process.

When the car is NOT your daily driver, I think it makes you take more risks
