B14's do not have as big of an issue with the pop out (it does still happen).

i never had a pop out issue or this isnt even a popout its a grinding..... just plain old grinding i dont think im gunna be messing it up just wanted to know how to tell what would be causing it or if it was literally that obvious.

The engine mounts? Actually good. Surprised in the shape ther in since it's a 92 but what would that have to do with the noise? Not being an ass just curious I'm always looking for more info thx

First thing is when you drain the transmission look at the oil and feel it with you fingers. If you see metalic flakes or it feels like sand not a good starting point. By the way you did fill empty and refill it?

Well take the cover off.

-Very first thing to do is look for cracks in the gear assembly and look for broken metal pieces.
-Lift up on each shifting fork, there should be little to no play in them.
-Try pushing the input/primary and main/secondary shafts, they should not move.
-Look at the teeth for the gears, should have a crisp edge with little to no nics and if they have a nic they should be no deeper then maybe .05".
-Now look at the bearings, try to push one of the balls inside them if they move it's not good (dont use something sharp).
-Look at the couplings (they are the ones that look like a gear insde a gear) the teeth should come to a point on the outer ring. The inner gear is hard to see, but you should still be able to tell if it's hosed.

About the only thing you will not be able to do without taking parts off is check the shafts teeth. However, if the shaft moves there is something wrong.

By the way taking the case off you can still screw the tranny. Piece of advice, When lifting it off, lift from the diff side and not the gearbox side. Little to nothing to hit on diff side, alot to hit on the gear box side.

To get it pass the input shaft bearing you may need to hit the bellhousing with something. My advice go get a $10 harbor freight 10lbs rubber dead blow hammer. You hit it with a metal hammer you may crack your housing or hurt yourself. Not saying it's possible or impossible, but better safe then sorry.

ok took it off. no play but did notice that my old transmission where the axles go in that the inner gear per say moved with the big gear on the top. in new one it doesnt and it seems like the axle doesnt turn any gear even when i put the transmission into gear. i think at tthis point im gunna pick up another tranmission and try that. with a warrenty and not from a forum member.
