What did you replace your trans with? Salvage yard trans, rebuilt trans, new trans, classifieds trans? If the trans is not new or rebuilt I would open it and just look to see if 3rd is worn, if everything lines up, etc...

A quick way to tell if something is f-ed in the case is just turn the input/primary shaft. Differential turns you are probably good. Differential doesn't turn your trans is proabably hosed in the gear box.

Always open a used trans saves you work later down the road. I did it on my 300ZX, Datsun 280Z, Imported Honda Civic Type-R, and now I'm doing it on my Sentra project car. I never take anyones word that it's good to go.

Are you sure your clutch was good? Sounds like you may have stripped splines on the disk. So no gear works when you put it in gear and try to go all you get is a grind?

If so sounds more like a clutch problem than a transmission problem. Unless someone totally jacked the trans up completely. Like they said best way to do it is pull it off and turn the input shaft by hand and see if you can see the diff turning. Taking the case off our transmissions is pretty easy. There is not much to it. Remove the end cap on the end of the input shaft, there is a snap ring you remove, then remove the bolts to the case and lift the case off the gearstacks. Pretty simple.

If your clutch is good then you may need to take the rear case off to inspect and if you can take the trans out you could take the rear case off.

Did you use the correct Axles for this trans? LSD and non-LSD trans drivers sides axles are different.

yes i did and i noticed that the non lsd tranny was smaller so the larger splines wouldnt of fit. i got right axles put them in spin them the other axle spins in other direction like it should with non lsd.

There are several good write ups on how to do 5th. If I was you and you are worried about messing it up I would either hire someone to do it or get a different trans preferably off of a B14. All you need to do with that one is swap out the speedo pinion and maybe a couple sensors (I would do it just to be on the safe side) and a way you go. B14's do not have as big of an issue with the pop out (it does still happen).
