Throttle Cable Replacement
Hey gang,

Welp, after 319,900 miles yesterday I was driving and my gas pedal got really stiff and the culprit appears to be the throttle/accelerator cable. I lubricated the throttle drum and that didn't help - the cable actually appears to be almost broken where it goes through the firewall, so I'm pretty sure this is it. I'm going to have to replace it - does anyone know what I'm in for here? Level of difficulty? Any info would be appreciated.

Super easy and pretty straight forward. If you look under you will see how its attached to the pedal and how it needs to come off. Shouldnt take much time at all.

Thanks. Pretty scary stuff. I was with my father on the interstate and all of a sudden the pedal got stiff and the car kept accelerating like I had cruise turned on. I shall get a cable ordered today - if I have questions I'll bump the thread unless anyone else has anything else to add about the install.

rumor has it that the b15 cable works and is much smaller so you don't have to have it wrapped all the way around the front of the engine or perform the disappearing throttle cable trick. Which IMHO is a must on any SR car.

this shows my hidden cable.

Thanks - but I've already paid $39 for one from O'Reilly - should be here tomorrow. Advance Auto Parts didn't have it. That cheezed off my father a bit, heh - he is a Network Engineer for AAP. Will report back after I've got it if I have problems installing. Thanks guys.

A buddy and I both did this to our cars. It fits just right, and is way shorter than the B15 cable. The only part you will see is the end going to the bracket, and TB. A32 Max cable

If you are over like 5'8" or your back is more than 20 years old pull the driver seat out.

ITs one of those things that's easy if you have very good instincts or if you've done it before but can be a pain the first time.

I like to break the bolts under the dash loose and then use a little thumb-wheel ratchet to pull the two 10mm bolts off the firewall.

that's not bad. I don't like how the cable routes though. Plus you don't get to use the built in throttle cable holder on the passenger shock tower . I don't know if the B series have that but the P11's do. You can see it in my pic.

I can understand your preference. I routes perfectly hidden the way I did it. There's no need for any holders/brackets when using this one. It's the perfect length.
