Sr20 Tranny's Suck *Update 11-19-2011*
im on my second sr20 trans . its a daily driver which my wife drives to work so the car isnt getting beat on . the orginal trans had a bad 5th gear so i bought my first rebuilt trans (lasted me a few days tab for the 5th gear came off ) swapped that trans out for another trans worked fine and smooth . today the 5th gear began to pop out and while waiting for my wife to get out of the store i couldnt get the trans into gear . had to shut car off than put into gear and turn it on in order for it to move .

why are these trans so freaking shitty . is there a better way to fix that problem .

after reading and searching and texting friends i came up with the following

1. Bad TOB
2. Bad Motor Mounts
3. Bad Input Shaft
4. Bad Clutch (Loose Spring)

Update As Of 11-19-2011

Driving This Morning & While Driving I Couldnt Get The Car To Engage . Pushed Car To A Parking Lot . Tested Each Gear "While Car Is Turned On" All Gears Go In But Dont Engage , Didnt Even Grinded Going In . Clutch Cable Is Good Didnt Seem Loose Or Stretched .

Hmmm very odd that you'd go through that many transmissions.

yea . the car is barely driven . on a day not even 15 miles . thats my wife driving . on the weekends i normally drive it .

Today's problem sounds more like a clutch issue. Not releasing when it should. Have you checked the cable adjustment?
