So I almost Burned My Car Down Today
So I decided it was time for me to get rid of my pesky CEL P0141 (O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

So I went to Radio Shack and bought some resistors and a capacitor and welded them on appropriately.

Started driving the car and saw smoke coming from under my seat, where the Rear O2 sensor is located, I hid the wire inside the little hole.

Take it out, the resistor that was on the two white wires (heater wires) was burned up, while the resistor and capacitor on the Ground and Signal wire were fine.

Shortly after my car got a CEL, P0135 (O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

Doh!

Well after a bit of driving the code for P0141 finally came back too.

Anyway, I know why P0141 is there, no O2 sensor present hehe, but why could the P0135 be showing up?

Did I burn up the front O2 Sensor Heater connectors? Is there a place where the Heater wires go to, white wires?

BTW the reason there was a short, the resistor couldn't withstand the wattage...

Jesus man! Well apparently you didn't have the right ones now did you. I think it's time to shell out the money for the rear o2.

Oh I would shell out money for it, accept its stuck on the cat!

I will be getting a more resistant resistor today though

haha. Let me know how that goes. That was not good. I too want to dummy the computer so I can take out the CEL.

NVM on the getting a better resistor today, seems like RadioShack only carries 12 Ohm 10 Watt, the minimum suggested is 12 Ohm 12 Watt.

I think I might be able to solder the wire back to the O2 sensor, otherwise its eBay for the new resistor.

Any of you have an idea why the Front O2 sensor could be going off? Did I burn the front O2 sensor or is there some other thing that I could have fried?

mine was stuck in the CAT aswell, we just got a oxcytlene torch and heated it up and it came out, might give that a shot

Not really sure how this is wired in the ECU but if they use the same power supply you could have damaged something. Since the resistor started to burn, it may have shorted and cause some internal damage to the ECU. Like i said, i have no idea on how this is setup in the ECU but it could be the cause. Have a spare ECU to try?

I'm looking for the what fuse could possibly be blown.

It seems like the Connection Numbers are F1 (front) and F25 (rear).

In which fuse boxes are those in?

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I don't. If the ECU is fried, I will have to get an older ECU and send it to Calum for some quality programming
