01 SE Issue P0171
I got a CEL on my new SE, came back as P0171. Is this a common issue with these things?Symptoms are hesitation on highway at cruise speed and throughout the power band. Seems like it could be a few different things so thought I would start here to see if there was something that was a common issue before I start chasing it myself. Thanks

on the RR p11's this code is almost always attributed to a faulty MAF. The code itself is thrown by the front O2 sensor and reads system too lean. Possible causes if not the maf itself can be air leaks and if you have an oiled type filter, oil or residue on the maf wire.

It's always the maf! If you replaced the maf with another used one, then it's the maf! If you replaced with a new one, then it's probably an O2 sensor.

Disclaimer: "It's always the maf" only applies to 00+ Roller Rocker SR20 MAF's.

Like the guys said, MAF or front o2. Had a friend that had this issue and he replaced the maf and the o2 with parts from the junkyard and problem solved, not really sure which one was the culprit though. There is a slim chance it could be intake/exhaust leaks or even your FPR/injectors. First thing I would do is clean the MAF wire and then unplug the o2 harness, plug it back in, flash the ECU and see where you are. You can also check continuity or voltage for those 2 components to see if one or the other is faulty.

I just took of my RR MAF and installed an E60 MAF. The MAF was working quite well when I took it off. It has been cleaned as well. PM me if you need a MAF.

I do have a air filter on a which could be what happened. I will get some maf cleaner and try that out first before doing anything else.

I've been running a BPI flow stack and a K&N and an S&B filter with no problem's on my daily p11.

the issue is not actually the filter. It's with people over oiling the filter after cleaning.

I never oiled it haha I'll clean the filter and see what happens. The car only has 50k miles on it so I really don't know what else it could be since it started doing it about 3k miles after I installed that.

Look at your maf wire too when you clean the filter. Also check all your clamps and connections on the intake pipe. Goodluck and let us know how it turns out.
