Wingman Im not trying to start a pissing match. I could understand how that could be read that way though. All Im saying though is that everyone has there own way. But I prefer to get my axles way far the hell out of the way while im putting my tranny on. Your already draining the tranny fluid anyway.

To be honest I have never replaced an axle seal on these cars ever minus the one time when I had to do the passenger side because of the axle messing it up. Ive never had one leak on me in all these years. So the seal is the least of my worries. I guess ive just been lucky(or maybe my way works). I have however had axles fall apart on me or the boot break because I didnt wanna move them out the way trying to save time and it somehow got messed up. I do however get remanufactured axles with the old ones using my autozone warrenty most of the times I take them out. Only takes a day.

I dont take any mounts out of the car either. Just unbolt the tranny from the rear mount. No need to take it off or even move it. For the side mount take the three bolts off and swing that mount upward. Itll be out of the way enough that youll be good not taking it off.

Well, I ran into a snag like I always do. All of the bolts are out of the trans/engine, but I can only get the side closest to the firewall to separate only about 1/8". The side against the radiator will come off. Checked to make sure all the bolts were out, and have been using a trans jack and a jack under the engine to maintain alignment. But no matter what I do or try, I simply can't get the firewall side to separate. It comes apart enough to get a pry-bar in, but will not move beyond that. I've brought up pics of the transmission bellhousing, and the rear trans mount/bracket to make sure I didn't miss a bolt.

Unbolted the front mount, and rear mount from the trans itself. Starter is out, and all 14mm and 17mm bolts are out. Shifter linkage is unbolted. I'm guessing if all the bolts weren't out, the firewall side wouldn't separate very much, if at all. I've been through 2 manuals, 3 write-ups, and followed them to a "t". I don't have anyone to help me out here, or to ask for advice. So all I have is everyone on the forum. Any ideas? I've got to get this thing done by tomorrow evening.

you look under the trans pretty sure there is 1 or 2 14's under there.

got to be a bolt still in or something on the back side not letting it slide out.

also did you get the 14 that is inside the rear mount its a pita to see and line back up

Yeah, I got the two 14mm's on the very bottom. Now that I can see a little better, I'm going to see if there is another bolt in the mount. Or, I might just take the whole mount out, just to be sure.

Did you take off all the bolts on that stupid little bracket thing? It's about halfway up on the firewall side and thats what stopped me last time lol

I feel like an idiot. There was 1 14mm bolt down inside the trans bracket that I couldn't see. Couldn't even reach far enough to feel it. Wiggled a socket in one of the holes, and what do you know. :/

Got the transmission off, only to find that one of the clips on the old throwout bearing was busted. Nice. I've been on a mission trying to get some new ones. FINALLY got the guy at the Nissan dealer to order them. He acted like he didn't want to order them. Earliest I can them is Tuesday morning. That sucks. Clutch is in though!
