Well you didn't specify which water pump pulley you had in the post I quoted. I think Vadim understood it as you having the STOCK DE water pump pulley and not having a UR DE water pump pulley.

UR DE water pump pulley is fine on a VE. You have a larger than stock pulley (the UR) which is good for delaying/reducing the cavitation that will eventually happen at the very high end of the RPM range. The Gspec WP pulley is a tiny bit larger than the UR DE water pump pulley so it IS better, but you will be fine with the UR pulley you have now.

Even if you DID have a stock DE water pump pulley, upgrading to a larger pulley isn't absolutely NECESSARY (it's a good idea to do it though) unless you are going to take the car on a road course or maybe auto x it........................ Or if you drive in 2nd gear everywhere.

Basically this.

Wayne, all the water pump pulleys are interchangeable and will "work". However, the smaller the diameter of the pulley, the worse off you are when it comes to coolant cavitation. The stock DE pulley cavitates the water before redline. With the proclivity of the VE to be revved higher, the problem gets worse.

You have the UR pulley which is a larger diameter, so you are at least better of with it. I don't know how it's diameter compares to a stock VE pulley though.

There is a thread on pulley diameters around here somewhere.

You never said you had a DE UR Water Pump pulley . I would sell them as a set and get a GSpec WP pulley and leave crank stock .

So what should I do here?

Stick with the UR water pump pulley and stock VE crank pulley?
Stick with the UR water pump pulley and get a GSpec VE crank pulley?
Get both Gspec VE pulleys and sell both UR DE water pump and crank pulleys as a set?

Uhh.. sorry. No reason to waste more money on the gspec water pump pulley if its going to work the same as the UR.

Gspec water pump pulley is bigger then the UR one, underdrives it a tad more.

You have to consider how much you can sell your UR Crank pulley for and how much you can sell Crank and WP pulley for. I sold mine for $150 a few months back. Now if you can sell the UR crank pulley for $100 or more then your better off keeping your UR water pump pulley. But if you sell your crank for less then $100 then your better off getting a GSpec WP pulley with the difference that you make.

I honestly wouldn't bother with underdriving your crank. Especially for on a daily. I'm driving right now to see what my gas mileage will be like with the stock pulley. Hopefully the same as with the under-driving one.

Well I want it more for weight. Plus its not my daily anymore now that I'm up north now so more mods that I can get in for one day getting on an autocross track would be nice after the winter.

Honestly I was on the fence about getting rid of it but I figured... If i do i will hate myself later on when I see it again. Plus I just want to really get it to awd status and shock the hell out of some STi/evo people.
