How one can break a plug off while installing it, I don't know. I don't use a torque wrench when installing one. My general rule of thumb is to hand-tighten them so to speak, much like I do with oil filters.

OT - OP, you know your sig means infidel, right? Kind of odd to see someone calling themselves that.

Yeah when reinstalling the ngks the washer is already crushed so it will get tight and be tight. But brand new ones the washer has to be crushed. It will start to get tight and again if you torque to specs you have nothing to worry about because the washer will crush before you hit the torque value and then get tighte where its supposed to be. I never use a torque wrench on plugs and never had an issue with overtightening or undertightening them. Just crush the washer and the when its gets truely tight then your good. No need to go hulk on them.

If I plan on taking something off again, I spend the extra minute to put some anti seize on it. It doesn't need a lot and its not expensive. Never had a problem putting it on spark plugs and I'll continue to do so. If somebody really can't install a spark plug correctly, they really have no business working on a car anyway.

Just don't tighten them to high heavens and they shouldn't seize. I use the stuff but just a little bit.

Muslim extremists (the ones you guys are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan) refer to non believers as infidels. Also I have that on my dust cover for my AR.

I know that. I come from an Islamic background, though I don't share the extremist interpretation of the relgion's teachings. Just was surprised to read Arabic text on the forum.

I see people with the stupid fucking T-Shirts with the huge Arabic symbol and in parenthesis translation come into my work all the time like they are cute or something. I think it is disrespectful but then again, I believe in nothing. Not picking on anyone, I just see it all the time from idiots at my job.

I don't see how you are going to tighten your spark plugs so tight that they snap like that. If you are stupid enough to actually do that, then you deserve the headache that results from it. I've never seen anyone overtorque a spark plug.

As far as NGK claiming their stuff doesn't rust etc, they are full of crap. I've taken plugs out of tons of DET, VE, and even my wife's GA, all had rust issues. Again, this likely came from detailing under the hood, but they claim their stuff doesn't rust and that's crap. Hands down.

I will take my wife's NGK plugs out on video and show you what they do after 20k miles. Last time I took out cylinder 1, I made damn sure I put antiseize on the plug before I put it back in.

Here's when I use antiseize: When you start taking a plug out, and the metal starts "crying" or making squealing noises, then make sure you use antiseize.

Not everyone has their plugs strip out in the head, but if it happened to you... just once... would you chance it?

If you change your plugs very often then you are probably ok. But I would run some in there. One application lasts through like 4-5 plug changes if you change them often. And since when is antiseize not good to have around? Am I right?

It's worth mentioning that they are referring to 10mm plugs. I still don't see how someone could be dumb enough to overtighten them. It is an amateur mistake.

"Metal shell plating acts as a "lubricant" which breaks away from the main body of the spark plug during removal, preventing damage to the spark plug and or threads in the cylinder head"

That could be the squealing you hear, because I have heard it but it never has damaged the head threads or the spark plug threads. Never found rust on any of my spark plugs though. Changed them at least 6 times in 7+ years.

Stupid is everywhere. Please search the forum to find people doing dumb stuff!
