I think it is solved.

I tightened the alternator ground which was really hard to reach w the ac line but I managed to get a tiny 8mm wrench on it and it tightened easily a full quarter turn. So that was no good but it looked and felt tight I checked it at least 3 times.

Also swapped a MAF sensor for a different one. I did notice the pin on the white wire was pretty loose in the housing... so that could be it but I know the car runs in dumb mode w no maf because I did it

The last thing I did (and I think this is the problem) was secure the harness with zip ties to the brackets on back of the motor. I realized that the whole engine harness was hanging on the back of the motor from the injector/ecu ground on one bolt which I unknowingly eliminated when I fixed it.

I also got some sandpaper on the two chassis grounds for alternator and maf so that they are clean.

This wiring harness has to go and so does the poor-boy wire tuck. Will be prepping a spare harness this Winter hope it holds out. The shit looks awful and I'm tempted to buy another (another another) SE-R/NX at some point and build it up to my spec.

We'll see. Thanks for all your help fellas.

total headache. And you know the type of person I am and how hard I go at these problems. In fact you saw it that day you stopped bye.... this was worse than that time my ecu wasnt seated and we sent my injectors for rebuild. I've just had no time to do anything with the baby and school so its very frustrating.

I may cruise out to see you Friday Josh. You gonna be around?

So to update this; the car has been running really well with the exception of some really hard startups and aggressive fast idling.

It will go to nearly 3k and sit at 2700 or so for like 45 seconds and I was just not comfortable with that so I only started it a few times when I absolutely need the car. Mostly I've been using public transport so I can work.

Anyway yesterday I took a small chunk of 5/8" hose and shoved it in the idle bypass hose. Problem fixed. Started up at 1800 rpm and idles down to 950 or so.

Now I want to know why it was flowing so much air to the idle bypass and what my unsophisticated fix did.
