no the circuit needs to be complete. it does not damage the car, just be sure not to start the car while in gear.

When you pull off the plug (male side with wire) just get another wire about 1inch long and stick the wire into each prong on the plug. then you are done

Found out the problem....little plastic piece on clutch pedal that contacts the clutch sensor was broke in half...so no car turns over but must be flooded car won't crank lol
