same thing happened when i did my det swap it was because i was dumping to much fuel after i tuned it with the safc and changed the oil it was all good from there. I did have to end up replacing my valve cover gasket though

I just found out about the o2 sensor in stainless steel exhaust and poor readings due to bad ground. I need to get the 4 wire o2 asap...along with a tuned ecu of course.

5) You have no idea what your timing is at.

Bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump when the ecu thinks that it is pumping 259cc@44psi, means rich a/f mixtures...period. That's why you're getting a little blowby and polluting your oil.

^Good post.

^This should help a lot.

Update; I put in the universal 4 wire o2 sensor, changed the maf sensor with a jdm one I had on the shelf and it actually worked, seems to be running smoother with it. I also just bought a timing light finally and attempted to time it to 18degrees and it has alot more response.

My question is, the markings on the crank pulley, are they the same as a regular de? I noticed on a gspec pulley the numbers went to the right.. ??

And yes still waiting on a ecu..

on the gspec timing marks start at zero, there's a line for 5, 13, 19, etc. on mine. Just make sure you're running premium with the timing advance.

Ok, yeah I always run 93 with the ve. As for the timing I think I went waaay to advanced, the timing light I have allows me to set the timing degrees on it. So I put it to 18 degrees and set it at the 2nd line in from the right on the pulley.. does this mean im running 30+ degrees of timing?? My thinking is to go back with the gun reset to 0 and put it close to the far right line for 19 degrees of timing or so. Am I right on this guys? Thanks!

As I thought, I did do the timing wrong, I was running like 32 degrees advanced! Crazy low end! Lol I didn't hear any detonation or anything, actually ran real good, probably cus of the extra fuel im dumping kept it safe.

But I set it back to about 18-19 degrees, so no worries. :-)

Also, to properly set my idle, do I do it with just the alen screw with tps unplugged in timing mode, or the knob on the iacv? Cus the knob on the iacv broke after a few turns...opps! Thanks for the help!

good catch! I try to keep my timing lights as basic as possible...haha
