Port and polished sr20
Im currently getting my sr20det

bc stage 2 cams 246, retainers, valve springs, valves, ohh and cam gears, new gasket

Now my mechanic did say hes sending the head to get "machined"

Im thinking he means port and polished?

I wonder how much of a gain you can acheive from a p&p

He means just to resuface the cylinder head surface so the gasket has a better seal against the blocks surface. The smoother the better, should look like glass once it's done. Port and Polish is good, but if he's charging you $200, its not a port and polish.

Ima see how much for a P&P in that case, but that might have to be another time..

If its a tuebo motor a port and polish isnt neccessary imho.

Just crank the boost

If its all motor its a must.

Stratton.

You should combine all your threads with pretty much the same questions into one thread man. Where did he say it was going to cost $200? If you are being charged $200 bucks for a resurface, go elsewhere. You should really do some actual research before ordering parts as you are going to be taken advantage of and still end up with a slow car and no money left. I hope you didn't order all those unnecessary parts through your "mechanic" If you did cancel it and do what I suggested in one of your other threads. You are wasting money like crazy and your car will either blow up or be slow. You can't go any further without having the fuel to do so and being able to at least let the ecu know that you are going with larger injectors or 370's at 4bar for now. Tell us the whole story of how you decided you needed new valves, springs & retainers for stage 2 cams and are bothering to pull the head so you need a new head gasket? You are running a stock ecu and stock fuel pump so like I said, return the stuff you bought that you don't need, keep the cams, get rid of the headgasket, valves, springs & retainers. You can even lose the adjustable cam gears and just get a s13 stock cam sprocket for the side with vvt and spend the money on having enough fuel to run the boost that you want and letting the computer know that you made corrections to the fuel system. You sir are a shady performance shops wet dream.

lol I hae been trying to do my research, for days and I get very mixed views, This is the first time i found that uupgraded cams valves etc wouldnt be good unless i have better then stock injectors / fuel pump

so your saying i can get s13 cam gear for the vvt instead of adjustable cam gears? Would that make my vvt rattle go away?

Shit how much are a good set of injectors i looked online and found 4 HKS 550c injectors for 130$

and the fuel pump is like 80$

keep stock head gasket? or get a better one ?

ohh btw it wasnt 200$ for the machineshop but only 40$ to resurface

Edit* Z32 MAF (used) i can get in conjunction with injectors

Or should i keep the valve springs / retainers and add the injectors and 255 fuel pump

yes itll be more$ but later on id have to get that done anyways right? I mean im planning on making 400 hp

as for the ECU shit ima have to find someone who can tune it in south florida..

If you need to tune, you first need something to tune with. You can't tune a stock ECU by itself. There's a few different ways to do it. Nistune realtime, SAFC (there's a few different versions), Calum realtime if you can find one. These are the less expensive ones. You can use AEM EMS, or megasquirt, but they are more expensive. It's all what your budget will allow. My buddy is using an SAFCII for his FWD DET. It's pretty useful, and universal, but it's not as good as a realtime in my opinion. He's using his stock DET ECU, and was able to tune it with different injectors, and an N62 MAF.

First figure out what setup you are 100% going to go with before you decide on what you are going to tune with. If you keep changing injector size/MAF to go with and such based on last minute info, it will only put you in a bind. Like @totaled200ser said, don't waste money. I learned this the hard way, but luckily you can sale most of what you don't need on here which is a good thing, but still usually come up short from what you originally spent.

Get the 255 fuel pump.
VET metal head gasket (from Gspec performance)
Get the right injectors.
Get the rights MAF.
Get the right base bin, then fine tune it for 'your' motor.

Sure, till you get a boost spike and melt shit from the lean condition. Just listen to these guys because the choices you are making by yourself are going to end with you needing a new motor.

Get everything safe first, injectors, pump, maf, ecu etc to support the boost/hp levels. Then worry about upping the boost and cams.
