According to FSM, you hit certain spots with RTV.

I work at a yota dealer and those are the only places I ever put RTV on a NEW gasket, I've never had one leak and I've probably done between 100-200 individuals or sets. On a reused gasket it's a completely different story, when reusing(which I rarely do) I'll put a thin coat around majority of it just to make sure it doesn't come back.

yea exactly, i guess i didnt really specify lol.. i think i'll just use rtv all over anyways cause it helps me sleep better at night..

I agree the only place you really need to use rtv is the half moons and maybe the corners. It won't hurt anything if it makes you feel better to use it all the way around. It may be a little more work next time you pull the v/c off though.

click on VC672G. I ordered it from rock auto, but they don't have any more. This gasket is made of soft silicon. Even the spark plug tube seals are, and it comes with new grommets, and washers. This one wont leak like the stiff OEM rubber.
