Over revved the engine, what could be broken?
I mis-shifted going from 3rd to 4th, went into 2nd instead. It revved to about 9K for like 2-3 seconds and the engine died when I clutched in. When I stopped, there was a little bit of oil dripping from the car. I tried starting it and it turns over, but it doesn't fire.
The engine is still holding oil, so I don't think the block has a hole in it. Someone said the rocker arms might be gone and a valve broken.

What do you guys think? I just bought this car and this happens.

I think the rocker arms, at least some , have prolly fallen off, or yes you may have encountered valve float.....

higher revs than the head can handle=fail

Is it hard to replace them? I know they're a bitch to bleed on RWD SR20DETs IIRC.

Not hard, just remove the cams and seat new rockers. The dripping oil is concerning though. Thrown rocker arms typically won't cause oil to leak. Try to find where the oil is coming from, that will help solve either this problem or a different one you have (and don't know it).

The valve float is still in-the-air until you get inside the cover and see what's up.

it isnt running! It likely wont drip with no oil pressure... Only time it will is if you have a bad oil seal. otherwise, you need pressure to get it dripping.

I did the SAME thing a few months back (Damn B&M shifter). I happen to have a spare head though for a highport head if you are interested. Everything on it is in good condition. I've still got the exh. cam in it, all the valve springs, retainers, etc. I've even got the TB and the intake manifold if you are interested. I broke 3 rockers, bent all 6 valves. Fred Casey did the work on my car. Let me know if you are interested.
