for 8k miles though? That looks like something I would expect to see stuck to the brain plug of a transmission where various steel components are griding together constantly at high rpm....
the "goo" doesnt look detrimental or have any dangerous signs of fod...I would just clean as much as possible and do a few more frequent oil changes using oils that have a little more detergent content than conventional motor oil.
