Limited Slip Supplement?
Should we be adding this when doing a gear lub service?

Nope thats for rwd cars differentials. And most of the time even then...if you use a good quality gear oil you still wont even have to add any of it. We have sealed Viscous lsd's

It all depends on the oil you use. Redline Heavy (for example) doesnt have friction modifiers in it (at least not when i used it) which would cause a mechanical Nismo LSD to "clunk" on tight, slow speed turns. Like car parks etc.

Friction modifier fluid will help to reduce or stop it, but if you don't have any clunking issues with a mechanical LSD, then you don't need it.

I just preferred to use an oil that was LSD compatible to begin with to stop the clunking without having to add friction modifier solutions. If i was to add some, i'd want to get the product from the company that sold the oil so you know it wouldn't cause any problems.

As above though, if you've got the factory VLSD, its a sealed unit.

Redline and Motul are both highly regarded brands for friction modifier additives for LSD units.

Redline Shockproof Heavy has friction modifier additives already, though.

When i used Redline Shockproof Heavy my Nismo 1.5way diff clunked terribly without friction modified added. This was a few years ago now though, not sure if they've changed anything in the formula since then.

Moved to Motul FF LSD and all clunking stopped immediately.

I have been told to not use the Shockproof in the NISMO Diffs, told by a NISMO Tech. ... He suggested regular Redline 75w-90 ... The NISMO diff I have had shockproof and yea, clunked like crazzy , switched to the Redline 75w-90 and it is much better !!

I will stand by that also Shawn /\ . I'm running a 1.5nismo unit and switched to Lucas LSD synthetic and is better now .I remember reading the article by mike kojimma when he was building project phoenix and recommend using the shockproof in the tranny they had built with a 1.5 nismo LSD . I've not had he issue since switching .

Okay, I'm reviving a thread from the dead here, but what about adding an LSD additive to Valvoline 85w140? Or wouldn't that be necessary?

I also have a Nismo 1.5 diff.

Valvoline doesn't require it:
Conventional
Synthetic

I still added some redline friction modifier to my B15 with B15 trans, Nismo 1.5 LSD. I personally don't know what a clunk sounds like, all I can say the Nismo LSD in mine feels and sounds the same as the VLSD in my P11.
