problem tranny sr16ve on sr20de
hi,

i installed a sr16de tranny on my sr20de... now i got a serious problem. When i try to tight the clutch cable to be confortable, i cannot shit anymore while the car is running (idle). When i nearly completly loose it, the pedal come near the floor but i can shift / change speed while driving, but its very difficult since i have pretty no area play.

i have taken photo of my two tranny before mounting it...

here it is..

The input shaft has nothing to do with clutch adjustment. It is a cable issue. Did you use the cable bracket from the sr16 or the sr20? Is it an OEM Nissan brand cable?

this would maybe fix my problem, reducing the level ...

I'm not talking about the lever, but the bracket that supports the cable opposing the lever. Compare those.

I have installed 6 SR16VE trannys on SR20DE motors and sold maybe 15 SR16VE trannys and never had anyone have a problem with the installation or clutch adjustment.

Which is why, without any personal experience, I would suspect a cable issue.

You either have a

Bad clutch

Installed the disc incorrectly

Have a stretched out cable.

I have had adjusment problems with ACT clutches so I dont use them any more or if a customer brings one I will install it but I let them know its on them if it does not work properly.

yeah.. i compared it. they are equal length, and i also "slotted" the two hole to push about 1/2 inch more far the bracket because my cable ajustement was already at max while only little tension in the cable.. but when i adjust it more tight, i can't shift anymore.
