Thread: Knock detection

I am not to good at listening for knock. Honestly I not even sure what I am listening for because I am running 87 octane with 19 degrees timing on a de engine and I don't hear a thing. Is there a way to tell if the cars knock sensor is being activated and pulling back timing?

You would get a check engine light. Also your car would run super rich, thats the issue im having.

You won't get illuminated CEL for knock. It throws a code that can be retrieved, however.

You can get a knocklight, or and MSD knock monitor. These are really effective at monitoring knock.
