So I pretty much took the whole intake manifold out of the car after seeing how dirty it was, I cleaned the iacv the throttle body and the whole manifold, and I think I'm going to paint it while its all out, and try to get some cruise control on there (switching to a de throttle body, I'm going to delete the throttle body heater too because its easier to just loop the hose than to adapt the bigger hoses to the smaller throttle body)

It was the longer curved hose that was leaking, I hope nissan ordered the right one (wouldn't be the first time they got parts wrong), do I need to leave them vacuum things there, they are just zip tied on the coolant lines

A also traced this white wire to the knock sensor, I'm guessing it shouldn't look like that, I'll probably solder the connection together

That vacume connenction is there so the car does not throw a check engine light

I believe there was a whole thread dedicated about NOT soldering in the engine bay...just cut it, put a 0-ringed connector on there and electrical tape it.

x2, from all the vibrations the solder will eventually fail..

That is a butt connector crimped to a wire with half of it hanging out for the knock sensor, basically its grounding out

so Ive been thinking that this has been the 3rd time an engine has heated up like that and i haven't noticed it, i want to put some kind of alarm/ light to alert me, i found some temperature switches that activate at a certain temperature, im thinking about 200+ one of them piezo buzzers would start sounding and a light would come on, i could tap a hole and install the sensor into the outlet that goes to the top of the radiator (that is the coolant exit from the engine right?)

ive been thinking this, i already have a 1/2" npt tap

anyone else know of a place to get a cheap but good temp switch other than eguage?

Just a heads up, you should have replaced the other hose & clamps while you have it apart. No telling when the same thing could happen again. Ask me how I know. Twice. Never again. On any JDM swap I automatically replace both hoses & clamps no matter the condition. One & done.

well i went to Nissan after it happened Thursday and ordered the hose, i go there Friday morning and guess what? they ordered me the one i didn't need, i have never gotten the correct part from the dealer in the first round, so they ordered me the one i need and i already figured while I'm in there i should replace both of them, i went to lowes and got some good ss clamps

im also going to drain and fill the gear oil, flush the power steering, change the oil, flush the radiator, and paint the intake manifold especially since i have to wait till Monday now for the right hose

DO NOT PAINT THE IM. It is made bare metal the way it is to disperse heat. If you paint it you will be holding all of the heat in the manifold making it hotter than it is now and making you air intake temps go UUUPPP. Same thing with painting blocks. I learned my lesson the hard way and then I was tought on top of that by a wise man. I just would not do it.

why would painting it hold heat in? i think it would keep the engine bay heat out of the manifold more than anything, what is there that makes it build up heat? im going to get rid of the throttle body heater so the only heat could be what comes off of the head, i want to get a set of them thermoblock spacers sometime soon anyway
