help with tranny
just the other day, it was raining very hard for a mere 1hr or so. almost all sides of my complex was flooded but i had to go to work. so i decided to drive slowly around it since i have no other choice. water was getting deep and i started to get worried but i made it out. BTW..there were 2 srt4 stranded due to that water went inside their intercoolers. to make the long story short, water seemed to went into my tranny (auto) and caused the gears to kinda slip. nothing in the motor thank god. i checked the fluid and it was like chocolate milk. im gonna drain it and but new tranny fluid in. was there any harm to my tranny while driving with water inside? also where is the plug to drain out the fluid (on auto)?

i dont see how water got in. your tranny is supposed to be completely sealed to keep the tranny fluid in...

Water inside the intercooler won't happen unless there's a hole somewhere. The alternator probably got soaked and car lost power, not uncommon.

On the manual transmission, there's a few slots on the bottom where the any clutch dust can get out. This is in between the motor and bell housing, there's no fluid in there. My guess is that's where the water got in. Happened to me before when going through really flooded area, clutch just chattered real bad until it was dry.

But for water to get in there, I'm sure the whole car would have to be submerged under water

I don't know how tall you are but if it was up to your knees then no doubt that **** would have flowed through the tranny vent, especially if you took that vent hose off.

well the tranny is getting fixed. thats good part but the bad is that its going to cost me an arm/leg . its a brand spanking new tranny but going to cost $1,700 w/ new mounts and 2 1/2 warranty. yea way too much. it was pulled out cause all the cluthes/gears were gone. i was just about to leave me car at the shop and say peace. it horrible and embarassing but its only transportation i have for work/school. man i just have no other choice.

finally got it back today. with the new tranny, it runs better than before but i gotta wait until it breaks in for a few miles for the most part. they threw in some brake pads on and cleaned the engine.
