TDC
I installed a different distributor the other day which helped the idle and missing issues. It runs a lot better but I cannot get the timing marks to line up.
I followed the instructions from Haynes to a T:
rotate crank until the pin lines up with 0 degree mark and rotor is pointing at the #1 plug position on the cap. (it said if the rotor was 180 degrees off then it was on the exhaust stroke)
so, according to the book, rotor pointing at #1 and pin lined up with 0degree mark on crank pulley, cylinder #1 should be at TDC on the combustion stroke.
The timing light shows the marks on the pulley being to the right of the pin on the block (right being front of the motor) no matter how much i advance or retard the timing by rotating the dist. it doesn't help.
