I'm having alignment problems. Any suggestions?
Earlier today I installed a set of energy suspension steering rack bushings on my 92 NX2000. So I pulled it up on a set of ramps, and took the old rubber ones out. They were actually in pristine condition, just a little dirty. I installed the new ones. the driver side took almost a hour, passenger only 3 minutes, lol. Well, I pulled it off the ramps, and viola! My steering wheel was straight again! I thought it was going to be fine after all. I used to have to hold the steering wheel at 10 o'clock to go straight. After the install it all lined up to 12 o'clock again. Well, after cutting the wheels to the right to back up it's now around the 1 o'clock position to go straight. WTF! I doesn't drift to one side badly like it used to, but still a little. The steering is also a lot tighter. So, has anyone else had this problem, and fixed it? I had everything lined up perfect, and put some serious torque on the bushing bolts. So, they aren't loose, and IDK what could be the issue?

It still has to be aligned. And aspecialy when you change the control bushings it has to be realigned afterward. Your toe will be out and same with the steer ahead . Also if your rear is not aligned the front will be out aswell . the rear trails off the front . Take it to a shop and pay the $65-100 to get it straight or you'll have tire wear issues .

Yeah, you need an alignment any time you mess with any steering component just to be safe

I see what you both are saying. I was going to have it aligned a few mos back, but they couldn't get it up on their alignment ramps cause the exhaust was ran out the side. But still, there is something wrong if my alignment changed twice since i installed them. I have to find and replace whatever part is bad before I align it. I'd be wasting money if I didn't. I got the ES master kit to install still. I'll try for this weekend. My grandpa said the ball joints are probably the culprit for this one. I do know I need an alignment though. I need to know what to look for that could be loose to cause the random changing alignment.

If you have a tires plus in your area, they do a 3 yr alignment for like 99.99.. That's what I got..

Yeah there are a few tires plus around my place. Sears has a good deal though. $15 for an alignment check, $70 for the alignment. Also if you do need the alignment the credit the 15 to the 70 so you still only have to pay $70. I cant remember what there warranty was though?

If you were denied an alignment because of a side exit exhaust, you're better off without their services. find somewhere without a ramped alignment rack. one thats in the ground. Also most places as kind enough to tell you if they are unable to get your vehicle into specs. and will further asses the cost to get it in spec.

Yeah I kinda thought that was BS, but it's sears, so I figure their reputible. Plus they are only 1 mile from me, lol. But it was only 70 for a 4 wheel alignment plus camber to factory specs. Anyway I'm not going to get anything done til I get my ES master kit installed, and all 4 struts replaced. Was going to do that this weekend but I just found a low mileage lowport for $400 with 94k on it, and a 5 speed tranny for $90. so It's swap time, the little stuff follows.
