Spun Bearing Questions
A friend of mine gave me his turbo VE block. Today, I took the block apart and found rod bearing 4 gave out. My main question is what is still good? Could I reuse certain parts or is mostly everything junk? Iv never delt with block with problems and iv read to replace bearings and go but i might use this block for whatever or possibly sell parts....

here are a few cell phone pics

If its not to damaged you can clean it up and drop in new bearings if it didn't get to damaged.

Well the bearing on piston 4 was completly gone. The crank does have noticable scuffing but there arent any gouges(sp?). My main concern would be the oil pump. Is there anyway for me to clean it to get out the shavings and any other debris.

and Wayne I might be looking for another SER if i keep it DE it may get this bottom end or ill Sell my DE stuff and get another VE for a Daily

New oil pump, turn crank professionally, size out new bearings. Turn key and play.

Locals get theirs machined and balanced for ~$400. I mean theoretically you could clean out the oil pump housing out but its not easy. You'd have to inspect it for damage and all.

I do have a VE bottom end but shipping would not be worth it. Good luck.

Well hope you get it worked out... I know how it feels to be worried about it and just going with a new motor.

Hell mine hasn't made it to the shop yet all because of the water pumps being out of stock.

LMK what happens brother.

Not worried about it, it was a spare block that was given to me so it will just go to the scrapped and ill make a few bucks off of the aluminum... and Wayne if you need a WP that bad the block came with from. What I was told a new pump
