tranny mounts
Hey this is the second time my bolts holding my tranny broke. I converted my car to five speed and i use my auto tranny mount and there was a gab from the mount and the tranny. Is the tranny mount different from the manuel to auto and do they mount to the chasey at thbe same point? Any info would be great thanks

Lol, I got your answer....

A little back-ground first.

I bought a nx with and auto tranny in it too. I also did the conversion to 5 speed. I ALSO broke bolt after bolt and noticed that the bolts pulled the entire engine assembly forward with every crank (putting hug amounts of pressue on the bolts.)
After braking about 3 sets of bolts and destroying new axles a few times, I decided that the boly holes for the mount on the auto frame are too fare forward byt about 1.5 to 2 inches.

MY SOLUTION
I fabricated 2 steal plates about 3/4 inch thick each and put them together. I made them the correct shape and drilled holes in them to shim the tranny mount. I had to buy longer bolts to make it the extra length. Since then, no issues have been noticed and everything is working great.

If you need me to, I can post pics.

Good luck

I have your answer.

Back-ground-
I also did the same thing with my NX (Converted from auto) and had the same broken bolts issues. I think the auto mount mounts about 2 inches too far forward for the 5 speed tranny.

My solution-
I found two pieces of steal that were about 3/4 inches thick and cut them into shims to hold the mount further away from the tranny the correct amount. I then drilled the 3 holes in them for the bolts and got longer bolts to reach the tranny and painted it to keep it from rusting. It was hell custom fabbing the shims, but it worked well and now I no longer have to buy new bolts and axels constantly!

I can post pics if that helps

Good luck!

I think I was off on the measurement. It looks closer to 3/4 of an inch total (I just used 2 plates to achieve it).

I did the work to it about a year ago, but I've only put about a thousand miles on it since.

But I noticed how much better it was just putting it back together (I didn't have to ratchet the tranny forward with the bolts or pry it forward to get the mount to reach).

I also didn't break any axels after that. I had broken 3 remanufactured ones from advance in under 10 miles of driving :-(
