Well there goes that....CARNAGE!
The rod is uh knocking.

Just went and had my car looked at and listen to. Something is going on in the bottom end between 3.5 and 4K and keeps getting louder. Which I was hoping it was something to do with the head I just put on 4k miles ago... SOB. Not even one oil change into it. 10W50 and some Lucas... Let's see what happens.

So.... confucius say VVL in yo future's!

That sucks.

On the other hand, every breakdown is an opportunity to upgrade.

I know I'd be saying to Wifey "Honey it really sucks, but I think I need a new motor...." Which would of course be a VE.

Well that's where I'm headed. I just have to make this one last until the funds come in. It's bitter sweet really because I don't want to spend the money but I also am happy to be moving up. Plus I like N/A... and maybe if I get bored with it again then some n20 to settle my spirit.

You're not still driving this around are you? You can cause some serious damage.

My engine ran for <4 miles with rod knock (spun bearing #2). I had to replace the rods and the crankshaft. Drive it for a good length of time and you are certain to need a new engine when one of the rods release.

Yeah on my first motor i thought i heard knocking on my way to work. It was confirmed on the way home and less than 5 miles later i had a rod seized on the crank. It was a learning experience.

here's my spun #2

its not that bad to replace on a lift, as long as you have all of the parts, it took me an hour and a half to pull it apart, the bearings were $40 something i think
