Venus auto in Sacramento is a good place where I've seen many nw locals get motors. Try to get a w10 or w11 Avenir style det.

What kind of motor oil were you using?

Probably a new motor. The motors aren't hard to swap if you have the right equipment. Also I'd suggest replacing all bolts where they need to go and using labels for the electrical connections and hoses.
