Need some inspiration from my peeps.
I just feel like I'm done with this car. Shit just seems to keep breaking on it. Granted it just recently turned 100,000 miles. Don't get me wrong, it's never really left me stranded but it just seems to need a lot of work. I just replaced the motor mounts with some JWT mounts but now my entire car especially the hood rattles like a motherfucker. Recently had to put a new alternator in and now it looks like I need to replace the starter. Shit just sems to keep stacking up with this car. I am soooo ready to just trade it in for a new vehicle that doesn't rattle and give me headaches. Please just talk me out of it. I truly enjoy not having a car payment but at this point I think Im done.

Car payments suck.

No matter what, cars are engineered to break, if not there'd be no automotive business. Might as well stick with something you can enjoy are are familiar with.

Tommy... you have to remember... That's wear and tear man. How many axles have you replaced? I have replaced everything you have said plus sensors and gaskets along with 4 or so axles. As well as pads coolent flush's.

Like I have been told before.... It's a labor of love. What you do you learn by. Keep it and play man. That's all the advice I can give you.

BTW... get a ve starter from Miko. Much Much better!

Tommy -

If you invest in some new OEM motor mounts to swap out the JWT ones it might help a lot with how you feel about the car. At times I have gone too far with mods and made the car no fun to drive on the street. The only thing to do is to step back and remove those mods. For your car, new OEM mounts will work fine.

Then just take care of the things that are wrong. Nothing you mentioned was major. Hell, in these cars, a whole new engine is not even major compared to buying a decent new/used car that will give you half the driving pleasure. You can replace a starter with a good used one for under a hundred dollars. Compare that to $500 a month for 60 months in car payments and get a grip! If you are tired of working on the car, give yourself a break and pay a trusted shop to do some of the work. It's still much cheaper than taking on car payments.

I travel in my job and drive a lot of rental cars. That really makes me appreciate what I have when I get back into my B13 daily driver -- which is coming up on 200K miles. Just my 2 cents worth.

I couldn't say it any better. OEM mounts will make a world of difference, I was thinking the same exact thing back in February and decided to invest 2K into the car with a VE swap, fixed all of the little things and I couldn't be happier. It drives like a new car and no payment. I'm sure at some point I will purchase another vehicle but for now I'm content. I'm 195K on the odometer.

Thanks guys. Yeah the JWT mounts need to come out soon. They are a bit much for a daily driver IMO. Starter needs to be replaced soon. Something seems to be slipping too at high RPM's maybe the clutch or axels? Probably need new LCA bushings, balljoints, and tie rods because there seems to be some play there. Shocks/struts need to be replaced too but, I actually have a used set of AGX's with GC's. I think I might trade or sale the GC's for some RM's. Just alot of stuff to fix, kinda overwhelming. I guess I'll just take it one step at a time.

The mounts id say prob put you over the edge. Hell my B14 has 201k and it rattles and all. I know its just part of ownong a car that's 15yrs old and not having a car payment.if your selling those AGXs and GCs PMME a price.

I would get some RM springs or hypercos and you will be much happier. Its seems like alot to fix but what you listed are the normal where and tear items. Replace and you'll be happy. Car payments SUCK! lol.

Now you need a turbo and you will forget about the rattles .

Get some used mounts, I picked up some stock side and trans mounts and it made the car more enjoyable .

As for starter/alternator. It's normal for those to die every 100k. If you buy non-oem then every 12k miles (one year). Even though they may have lifetime warranty, you will be stuck replacing it every year.

Lol, you aren't going to be happy until I'm boosted huh? If I had another car for a daily driver I would totally try a modest T25 set-up on the SE.

I still have all of my original mounts and the only one that was completely shot was the front mount. The rear could probably stand to be replaced but the side mounts look fine. So, the stock side mounts will definitely be going back in. It's just embarassing when I'm at a stop light and people are staring at me because it sounds like the hood is gonna rattle right of the car. LOL.

I understand the other stuff is just regular wear and tear and I will address those issues one at a time begining with the starter. It just seems like "when it rains it pours!"
