g20 tranny
ill try to keep in simple, basically i swapped a 95 g20 T manual lsd trans into my nx.....the b13 tranny had 5th gear popout. other than that it was fine. so, after installing a new NX2000 drivers side axle, the car make a horrible screaching noise when you tried to put it in gear. WOULD NOT GO IN GEAR. but if the car is off it shifts through the gears just fine. now, im assuming the axles are diffrent some way.....it was HELL getting the drivers axle in, WAY more than ive ever had to deal with before. anyways, basically is there anything i should know? i just figured the were identical trannys, assides from gearing.

same trans yes...you know what to look for lsd wise correct? is there a bump on the drivers side trans case like where the axle goes into the trans on either of the trans' you have?

normally if you can only put the car in gear when the car is off...its your clutch. not saying this is your problem but... Also is this right after you installed the trans as in you havent driven the car yet again?

...and where did you get your P10t tranny? I picked one up from a dismantler and turned out it had no 5th gear.

no to did i do anything to the clutch(othe than a throw out bearing, and its the same as the old one, minus the wear and tear....same thickness/diameter. And yes i know what a lsd tranny looks like. ive been doing this for a while....just always thought the axles were the same, and as thats the only think i did diffrently, i could come up with no other explanation. tranny was given to me by a local forum meember, he had the car up for parts for over a year(i was keeping an eye on it) and he finally just decided to give it to anyone who came and pulled it. He was a very honest guy, really did me a solid one GIVING me a full swap. for someone to hang around in their free time while i pulled some free stuff out of a wrecked car, id have to say the trannys straight. it IS an lsd, and it did come out of a 95t......i doubt its got any issues at all. i THINK i started it with the drivers axles out.....BEFORE i put all the charge pipe and crap back in because it made sense to test it before all that stuff was in and i wasted my energy. if i remember it was fine. when i put the drivers axle in was when i had issues. first off it was HELL installing it....ive done axles in this car dozens of time......i had to dissasemble the axle, and use a hammer and a block of wood to get the inner axle sleve to go into the tranny. so im guessing somethings wrong there, lol. honestly at this point, i dont have a clue.

yeah, pulled it apart, couldnt find any problem. put it back together, after greasing the bearing up, and same problem. i guess its an idiot that repeats the same action expecting a diffrent outcome.....but hey, what the heck right? so basically, if its on jackstands, you can get it in gear....reluctantly. 5th and reverse are bad, reverse makes bad grinding noises. if the wheels are on the ground, its worse. but if you start the car in gear, they all work, and dont seem to slip. maybe ive got a spring loose or something in my clutch and didnt notice it? i forgot to check for that. it is a used act street disk. other than that, i can imagine it being the tranny, it DOES seem to actually work.just feels like clutch is not disengaging.

lsd and non lsd driver side axles are different. the shaft length is different, but that shouldnt stop you from going into gear... just make it feel like ur wheels guna fall of when u go around a turn
