Thats seems more like an error on filter number or something than the fault of the oil.

I use the Mobil 1 15w-50 with the mobil 1 filter and did 11k miles of absolute torture of 20psi on pump every day of the week, constant redline pounding 400+ whp and then 30psi on race gas on alot of weekends and at the track. I pulled the pistons out and the pistons and cylinder walls were spotless, the acl bearings were in perfect shape, not a sign of scuffing or wear. That was with an 8k rev limiter. Again VE oil pump and Mobil1 15w50 and Mobil 1 filter ftw. Ill stick with what worked. I cant complain after seeing the condition of the internals after a year of the torture i put on this thing.

Where is the pressure gauge before filter or after?
.
To really test it out would be to put 2 gauges in- one before filter and one after filter,
.
I'm wondering if the gauge is in front of the oil filter and the filter is holding back the oil due to the better filtering, vs the nissan which filters less so the oil flows through easier
.
if you get what I'm saying

It doesnt matter if the gauge is before or after the filter. Most gauges are put before the filter between the pump and filter. Of course your pressure is gonna read lower after the filter. But that being said you pressure should dont be jumping up and down for no reason. That tells me something is wrong in the filter. I know some filters have a pressure relief valves in them when the pressure gets to high it bypasses the filter. Maybe thats whats happening with the Nissan filter.

Id much rather use a filter that keeps a solid oil pressure only dependant on rpm and whether the oil is hot or cold.

Huh?

You're aware that more SR20's spin bearings on Mobil 1 oil than any other oil... right?

Your aware that was with the 5w30-10w40 oils right? I wont use any lesser of a weight than the 15w50. That whole big issue with Mobil 1 oil was with the 5w30 and 10w30. 15w50 actually exceeded the standards.

If you look at all the big DSM and Evo guys they use nothing lighter than 15w50 and i would say the same thing for our turbo motors.

Again i put it to the test and in my opinion it far exceeded my expectations. So im sticking with it.

Hmm. I dunno.

I'm considering switching to 15w40 Rottella Diesel oil. It's got what bearings crave!

That is a nice lil turbo trick o the trade I heard of. At least the ones I know with big turbo 240 drift car SR20s use at least.

I use the Rotella 15w40 as well. I love it, it doesn't seem break down nearly as quickly (judging by pressure) as most other oils I have tried.

I have always ran a Nissan OEM filter, but this thread is making me reconsider...

I love the rotella. Best stuff I've used so far, and great bang for the buck. I use the synth 5w40.

Don't ever use the mobil 5w30 or 10w30. I've seen more ppl spin rod bearings on that oil than any other. How you spin a rod bearing without a total lack of lubrication, I will never know. But I stay away from that stuff because I've seen too much destruction from normal use.

Sensor is in an oil sandwich adapter so depending on orientation before the oil filter. I can kind of see what you are saying but at the same time why would it matter?
