Installed motor....no spark?
Posting this here hopefully I can get some help or ideas to sort this out. I installed my motor and I have no spark. Not even comin from the coil. All I smell is gas and there is no spark going to the plugs when the engine is turned. I checked my distributor and its fine, even swapped distributors. I also swapped coils and no spark. I checked with a voltmeter to make sure there is power coming from the harness plugs and there is power there. Also checked all fuses and they are good. So I am not sure what is causing this. I double checked every plug on the motor and all my grounds, all is well. This should have been plug n play as the motor is just a rebuilt highport in to my b13.

Any ideas what would deny spark if I have power coming from the harness side into coil and dizzy? I have been trying to get this motor started since Saturday and I am all out of ideas and what else to check. My next idea was to swap out another b13 ecu and check what happens?

Make sure you don't have the harness backwards. The coil/dist plugs are the same as the 02/crank agle sensor. Alot of people have gotten them backwards and it just won't fire. It'll blow a fuse too.

not sure how you could put the crank angle senser plug on the dist. The 2 plugs for the dist are right next to each other. So if you put the dist plug on the crank angle sensor the other 6 prong plug for the dist will not get to the dist.

whom ever did that is a genius

We made same mistake while swapping SR20DE and harness into 1.6 chassis. We had no spark. Distributor and transsmission (i think it was tranny) has same plug, we had them mixed.

My guess is the grounds on the intake manifold are not connected.

I will check these plugs over again. I have not blown any fuses though trying to start the car.

The grounds on the intake manifold are on. If your talking about the two grounds that are screwed on the right side of manifold if you are facing motor.

O geeez. lol. I think I mixed those plugs up. I'm headed over to the garage to check this out. Going to feel real dumb if I did..lol.

Yeah the two prong plug for the coil is the same as the two prong plug on the trans for the reverse switch on the trans. Those i can see you getting backwards but looking at the harnesses they extend out that way and should be easy to not confuse with each other but yes it is possible.

Just got back. Those plugs are where they are suppost to be. Those are hard to confuse with the way the harness flows. I was hoping that was my issue so the pos would start.

Also can someone tell me the purpose of this?

Edit.
ok searched and its the power transistor. Guess I'll swap it out and try another :-/
