Whats This Knocking?
about a month ago i replaced all the bearings and had the crank resurfaced, was running great for about 500miles didnt beat on it tookit only to 3k and then we started to have fun with it. Driving home i noticed it started to knock at about 2-3k.... but it idles fine and after 3k it sounds ok no knocking. Can it be anything else besides rod bearings gone bad.Heres a video of me reving it up, notice when i retard the timing it does not knock but when i advance it it does. Any help would be great thanks

Does it knock all the way to redline? When you retard the timing you take some of the load off the engine, so maybe thats why it doesn't knock when you retard it.

I would not be reving the motor any more, just drop the pan and check all the bearings. What kind did you use? What clearence did they use on them? A lot of machine shops will set them to the 'limits' for more 'power' which makes sence when you're N/A but not for turbo.

the thing is that when i first had rod knock before the rebuilt it would knock all the time, no matter what rpm

now it starts around 3k, is there anything in my upper part of the motor that could sound anything like that.

well it definitly has a rod knock sound if you compare to other rod knock sounds, it could be a not so bad knock but still be a knock

Rod knock can be non existent at certain RPM's, this sounds pretty loud and relatively heavy compared to head noise, so I'm gonna go with rod knock.
