if you can get the driver's side out you should be able to whack the pas side with some sturdy concrete chisel and a 8 pound sledgehammer. if the driver's side gives you a hassle cut the pas side about 6-8 inches from the housing and tap it and knock it out with a five pound slide hammer.

Yep, drivers side is the only one that's different between manual, auto, lsd, non lsd.

SO did yo get the axle out, yet, OP?

I just took both of my axles out. The driver's side was more difficult/stubborn in wanting to come out of the transaxle. I used a large pry bar and my Dad pulled while I pryed or pushed.

Rebuilding axles is very messy and dirty. I should have worn glvoes because I still smell the grease on my fingers despite dozens of attempts to remove it. Gives me piece of mind I guess, since this is the grease in my axles.

Does anybody know who he is talking about? Or maybe know where that thread is located because that sounds like the problem i am having.

I have already tried doing this even though ill try doing it again. The problem with a pry bar is the edge is so small that it keeps slipping off. I thought of putting a wrench or picklefork around it to pry it off. the wrench was too thick and i have yet to try the picklefork.

I thought of using the slide hammer with this attachment (see URL) but when i went to autozone they said they have never seen that piece before and i looked in the store and on the loaner tools page that they have in the store and didnt see it.

I tried that using a long screwdriver and a pretty decently sized hammer and it didnt budge. I feel like i might mess up something in the transmission if i try any harder and believe me i hit that shit hard. and what do you mean by that second part?

If that is true then is there anything in the g20 transmission that would make an axle difficult to pull out because it feels like there is a keeper stopping it or something of that sort. I havent been able to try since i posted this because of school work and regular work but hopefully i will be able to get to it in the next couple days. If i keep having troubles i will post a video of what im talking about. Thanks everybody for your input.

i think he maybe talkin about me, i had got a shitty ass aftermarket axle an it would vibrate an stuff, an ihad to drop my tranny a few times an gettin it out was always a pain in the ass, so i got a remanned nissan axle an havent had a problem since..

i dropped the trans with the axle in place which has hard because i left the x-member in an exhaust also cause its welded to the cat. anyways got it out finally an took it to a friends shop where they took a big sledge hammer to it an it popped out..

this is the thread but it wont really be of any more help then i already gave lol

on your thread about if the axle looks right thats exactly how mine looks and thats why it is so hard to pry out. im not sure if mine has a keeper or not but since it looks exactly like yours it probably doesnt but then why is it stuck? Did your axle move in and out a little bit but then not come out? because thats how mine is.

Here is the thread from lynchfourtwenty.
