Not to scare you, but this is what my turbo car did right before it started knocking early this past summer. One night it started running rough, misfires and whatnot - pulled the plugs and found the same thing! After that it had a very slight knock at only light throttle. I tore down my engine this summer and found no sign of the piece anywhere, so I don't know. I'm not sure what caused it really.

I'm assuming your friend was driving in a spirited fashion when this happened?

x2 on the magnet on a stick to see if you can fish it out if it's not too late.

If it's still missing after he replaced the plugs, tell him to stop driving it. That's what caused the plug to melt in the first place, next time he might not be so lucky, it could be a valve getting hot and warping or cracking instead of melting the plug. Make sure that cyl is getting fuel.

He warmed up engine. Rev it through 3 gears or so, everything was ok, than it start to missfire, and sound changed to rougher one.
Also another of the plug was little bit damaged.. its weird. He had no problems for 1/2 year of driving.
He will try compression test and magnet thing.
