replaced a manley rod and new calico coated bearings
motor was cleaned out , new head gasket

what is the best oil to use to break in a motor? and how many miles do i have to drive to break in the motor? when do i have to change the oil again?

good question
this an all new motor or just a rod, crank and bearings?
on an all new motor i've always heard a straight weight oil is best. in a warm climate maybe like a -30w? definitely NOT a synthetic or blend. there is so little friction, it'd take forever to break in. i'm gonna do the 1st change @ ~500 miles or less. then again @ ~1.5k miles.

just use some regular conventional oil for the first break in.

sounds like my setup, SR16 block with 8cw crank, forged rods and SR16 pistons just notched for the oil squirters. I'm about to switch over to full synthetic oil.
