Exactly what I suspected.
Any 91-94 Sentra ignition cylinder will work, but you need the matching key for it (which isn't always possible with a junkyard car). You won't get very far otherwise. Install shouldn't be a huge pain, but I forget how much of the dash you have to pull apart to get the steering wheel column covers off.

Edit: if all you need is the switch itself, that's not too hard on the wallet. I found this one for $41.

are you needing to replace the whole barrell assembly? or just the actual switch part itself(located at the rear of the barrell, usually white with the wires coming off it)?

lol, nissan techs at their best, if you just need a new ign switch, thn u only need to replace the white switch at the rear of the barrell, probly only held on with two small screws, not the whole assembly, it would seem odd that the barrell is stuffed, just take the switch to your nearest auto sparky and they should see you right. shouldnt cost more then 100 bucks or so i reckon

Did they write down anything specific? Can you put the key in the ignition and turn it over fine? Can you unlock the steering wheel? Do the interior lights and the HVAC blower work with the key in the ON position? Does the radio work with the key in the ACC position?

I've got a similar problem,
Greg at Gspec hooked me up, something like $140 for a the whole thing, keys and all. Havn't installed it yet but need to soon, switch is worn out to the point that you turn the key and nothing happens for 1-60 turns, corner really hard and the keys fly out etc... Looks like you'll need some sort of breakaway bolt puller ($15 bucks at lowes for a full Kobalt set, probably $4 at HF), as the new one looks like the bolt heads will break away when you torque them on. I'm guessing you'll have to pull off a fair amount of dash etc to get access to it all.

I hear you can rekey the tumblers in the door etc to fit the new key, but I think I may just double key it for a while

local dealership was under $200 to install and about $200 for the part, so your stealership is really giving you a good deal. At least make them buy you dinner first...

had this same problem on one of my cars a, sounds like its voltage drop to me, not enuf juice getting to the starter, you can get around this by adding a simple 30a n/o relay to the mix which wil cut down the distance the voltage travels to the starter and amplify it @ the same time. Gotta love relays man
