Thread: abnormal charging system problem

I started hearing my alternator over my engine recently, I tested the alternator and it had an abnormal wave pattern

then I tested the battery and it failed it only had 119cca when its supposed to be 550cca
.
At 3am last night I switched the optima battery from my 1.6L into the se-r and put new battery terminals to get rid of the rats nest of wires going to the positive side, I cut the lug off of the big wire going to the positive side (the big 1/0 one) and the whole wire is coroded inside the jacket (I cut about 6inches off and it is still coroded that far

Is there a way to change that wire without changing the harness of the car?

I started the car up and no alty noise, but a check engine light came on right after I tested everything before switching the battery last night

Soon as I get done school I'm going to get the codes pulled
