rear mounted alternator
anyone have info on this mod? im rebuilding an engine and cleaning up my engine bay as much as possible..........trying to make is as uber custom under my hood as my wallet allows > and i remember reading you can use a RWD alternator braket to relocate it to the rear of the engine.

disclaimer: before anyone rips on my about wanting a super custom/blinged out engine bay i need to say this. i detest showyness..........my cars always look clean and understated on the out side. however i feel as long as everything under the hood is functional, thats were the money and time should be spent.

build your own brackets and you can do about anything, the issue is chassis clearance back there.

Miko has done it and I have a moded AL power steering bracket so that a RWD sr or KA alternator will work. The only problem is that it isn't going to spin as fast because of place on the crank pulley. You can get a pulley off a mx6 and put it on there and it will wont have an issure at idle but after about 1k there is no voltage issues with the stock pulley. Anything can be made you just have to make it.

hmmmmm. seems to be a bit to much work. if it was a simple bolt on affair i would be down for finding pullies and splicing harnesses. ill just take the alt apart and have a case powder coated.
