Now that you mention it, I just got a blue speed sensor from Snickers. I got it for my B14 as its electric. All I know is that it works for me.

I would think that with 1 more tooth it is for a little bit smaller tire.

TheRealNighthog, have you checked it vrs a GPS? It might be 2-3 MPH off, not really noticable though.

Here is what I gather from this.

Standard speedo gear for SER is Green which comes with 4.176 FD

It seems that higher numerical diff SR16VE and B15 which have 4.437 came with Red The higher numerical diff will read a higher speed on the guage cluster so you will need less teeth to slow it down. This is the same as putting smaller tires on the car.

The Blue speedo gear with more teeth should be for larger tires or lower numerical diffs like say a 3.90 in comparsiosn to (standard SER 4.176). With larger tires the speedo read slower than you are going so you will need more theeth 36 for like on the Blue speedo gear which will speed up the speedo.

But the speedo reads off the diff, so why would they make different speedo drives for different gearsets?

Clearly there are different tooth count has some reason, and i guess the ring on the difs might have different tooth count too?

The diff spins 1:1 with the shafts, regardless of the final drive so maybe its related to the car it came out of, like a Presea or something which aren't terribly common but did have a VLSD.

The speedo does read off of the diff. The tire is also a direct read which effects MPH.

The reason they make diffrent tooth counts is for diff and tire size.
