Yea I think if memory serves me correctly the NX has a walbro 190. I think it is time for a full tune up. Do the MAF service stuff and check for a leaky fuel injector. Also check for vacuum leaks.

Raw gas smell and break ups, what about a bad fuel pressure regulator?

My brother had almost the exact problem. Eventually it go so bad I could diagnose it. It turned out to be the connection for the fuel pump in the fuel tank cap thing was corroded and intermittently connecting. When I unplugged the harness side of the fuel pump electrical connection the vacuum in the tank was let go and there was a good hissing sound. I knew right away what the problem was. That's a sealed system. That shouldn't have happened. Low and behold there is massive heat damage + corrosion around one of the electrical prongs.

^^^^^ I have never ever heard of that problem... Good find.

If I'm right about the fuel pump sending unit corrosion then I think I've earned a cookie.

It may or may not be this, but it is an idea for you to look at.
Check the dizzy cap, rotor. Check spark wires.

Are you talking about the maf connector plug? I'll add it to the list to be checked.

It even tested good but after trying everything else,I just replaced it for the heck of it ...and fixed!!
Here is the thread from when it happenned.Check it out.Especially the 1st post and post #18 when I figured it out.

Was there any way to test this? I know I have a spare ignitor or two lying around.

AS Rodney later posted, it was upgraded when the VE went in.

Going to run test on the maf and replace the front fuel filter. If that doesn't fix it then i'm going to replace the rear fuel filter, then the pump if it persist.

How do you test the maf?

I think I have a spare set of injectors, I'll have to look

Good memory AND a good suggestion

New Nismo adjustable FPR went in with the VE

Man, I feel like Shawn B with all the multi quotes. And thanks for all the tips, I will be working on this next day off (not till the 15th :cry

It's going to be best if you can get the car to exhibit the behavior repeatably. It might be hopeless until the problem gets worse enough for you to have enough time to diagnose.

Haha when you multi quoted,I was thinkin the same thing.LOL

AS for the power transistor,I tested it from the FSM,and mine tested good.I think it just has a OHM check,I cant remember.
The thing was,I checked EVERYTHING else and still had the same problem....then like you said,I had a few spares and just changed it ...grasping at straws(since it took like 2 mins to swap it) and I'll be damned if it wasnt the problem.
Apparently when it would get hot,it would quit working correctly.
It was driving me insane.I would tell my girlfriend "I am gonna go break down now,so stay by the phone".My neighbors would see me doing laps around the neighborhood until it quit.I walked home a couple times and came back later to try to troubleshoot and it would just start right up.
I would take a drive until it quit, and call her to pick me up.Then I would go back to the car later and it would start right up,and be fine.
Every morning...start right up,and then at some point just shut off.

I would just try to change it since it is easy, and see what happens...at least that will take that "out of the loop"

Well, at this point Jay may have a winner. I pulled an ignitor from a running NX and swapped it in. I drove around for about 30-40 minutes total and no skips. Kimme is getting ready to head to Athens for the night to spend time with Tiff. I'm hoping she posts positive results as it is a little over an hour drive each way.
