so what they are tryin to say is, YES it will RUN, BUT! you will more then likely run into problems the next time you try to register it because it WILL FAIL emissions and or inspection..

It ain't like it used to be, that's for damn sure. I have no faith in my local or federal government that they will not ignore our cars. In my state, they still do dyno and tailpipe sniffer every year for my car along with a visual. I don't want to ruin it.

Also, why pollute more just for the hell of it. Deleting the EGR does nothing for your performance.

There are legitimate reasons why most states smog test now. Everyone has to breathe the air around you. I'm effing tired of sucking in nitrous oxides just because some ass in a 1989 Honda thought deleting his EGR was cool.

As per the original poster, you should be able to find a 96+ USDM SR20DE for around $500, maybe less. Go hit up some junk yards, or find a car that's being parted out. These motors do last a long time, but with a 19 year old motor you're rolling the dice. And dealing with smog issues later on is going to make that JDM motor worth $0.

I wasn't thinking above. USDM hi-port motors had EGR. JDM did not - so Wingman was half-right, and I was half wrong, or something like that.

I wish my car exhausted Nitrous Oxide.

EGR sucks, raises the temperature of the incoming air and adds de-oxygenated air back into the intake, how does that help? A more effiecent engine will have less emissions. Not one that is full of crap and voodoo magic.

EGR is only active from 2000-4000 and less than 70% throttle.

It is only on when you are not needing performance and it is illegal to remove emissions equipment.

I dont know why it matters. By the time someone actually, truly cares about it, they wont know what the hell it is under there.

I almost took it out when I installed my new exhaust, also. I decided not too, last second, just for the sake of time.

This is true. Only tpreason my motor has no EGR is because it's a japanese imported engine. With USDM engines, the only reason I've seen to remove it is to clean the engine bay to make room for aftermarket stuff, or if the system is constantly malfunctioning, which on cars of our age, happens quite frequently.

Me too. I meant Nitrogen Oxides, whoops.

^-- if this doesn't explain it, i can clarify.

Yes, a more efficient engine will produce less emissions. But we're talking about swapping a 1991 engine into a 96 car, not a MR16DDT into a 200sx.

Emissions equipment is not voodoo magic. It's there for a reason. I hope you don't go taking random parts off your car just because you don't understand what they do.
