how quick can you develop rod knock?
like is it instantaneous? IMO it can happen in the blink of an eye. like if you go and change your oil and start it up and redline it?

thoughts? opinons? experience?

Depends on the overall condition of the motor. I've seen well built SR's run with no oil for a few minutes with no development of knock whatsoever.

Good time to say YMMV.

is synthentic deisel oil bad for our motors? Will it cause bearing breakdown? im using shell rotellla t6 but was just curious. I know its better for hi temp applications and protects the motor better than regular oil

I have the opinion, that if your motor has oil in it, and that oil was made for an engine, and it's not worn out, you are probably ok.

I've ran cars without oil a bunch of times, mostly idling, and not for long periods of time. Nothing happened. There is always a thin coat of oil for a little bit.

why the hell would you put synthetic diesel oil in a gas car ??? ....

it's certainly a different weight... probably much heavier.. and who knows how it performs at low temperature. you need 10w-30 or 5w-30.. *facepalm*

I agree with Cliff, many people use the Rotella in gasoline engines. It is a great oil, pretty decent price and lasts a long time and does not brake down as fast as most synthetics. Especially good for a boosted car or a car that will see high oil temps. 5w30 and 10w30 will work also, but every person has their opinion, but there will be no ill consequences from using the T6

It's just like telling track guys to stay away from 10-40 or 15-50. OEM says I have to run 5w30, so that's what I HAVE to run!

don't ever go away from what OEM says! The OEM specs are ALWAYS the best for EVERYTHING!

LOL Some people just are uneducated and know no more. I would think those people shouldn't give recomendations on things they know nothing about and get people all freaked out over nothing.
