Would this be an improvement on my HotShot Gen 1 or 2 header?

Okay thanks for the heads up, I think I'm going to purchase one of these!
Has anyone else on the forum purchased these and what are your
opinion on them?

People have been getting these for about 3-4 years now. I had the 2" and 2.5", other than the bling factor disappearing, I have no complaints.

You really can't go wrong with these headers. People are making 200whp on ve setups with it (what I bought it for) and the quality surpasses hotshot's cracking welds. I guess since its made in taiwan it is leaps and bounds over china made stuff.

I got one from ilovetacotaco....it took a month and at leat 10 emails, trying to get a refund etc.
The guy had it listed but did not have in stock,so never shipped or contacted me.Ignored my emails.
I finally got it a month later, and it is great!it does have the 2.5 collector, and it was in the same box as my last ssac that cost twice that.
I wont buy from that guy again at any price, but I got a nice header with my headache

Man I wish I you had posted this before I ordered mine. I ordered it january 24th, and it just shipped out yesterday. Anyways its still scheduled for delivery by friday according to fedex. I hope that mine is the 2.5" as well, and not the 2". That would be the only thing that makes it worth it.

I bought this for my soon to be ve project and was wondering if all ebay ssac's have 2.5 secondaries. It looks like it in the picture. What do you think?

Cant' say for "all" but yes, if it's like mine yes it does - I measured everything before I put it together. Mine was ~$100 shipped, which is about the same. DP is 2.5", primaries much larger than the hotshot it replaced. Welds are good, the quality surprising for a "el-cheapo" header. Fit my DE head fine, too, even though sold for VE.

All my pics can be found here:

I measured the DP at 2.5" before installation:

Cautions:
1) If you use EGR, I had leakage issues with side pipe due to lack of full 360 seat for the tube. Fixed it with a custom fab insert made of higher temp copper, if you have this issue drop me a PM for dimensions, it worked great:

2) DP Gasket was metal/carbon sandwich and blew out right away. Made copper gasket and no issues since. Made it a little OS, too. Mani gasket was fine, no issues.

Note the nut is on top; the bolt head will strike the pipe if you put it together the opposite way. Don't grind anything, just put the bolt in from underneath.

3) If you have the very large Progress lower control arm brace and 33 mm front sway, 2.5" DP clearance is tight and it will take some work to make it fit w/o contact on a B13 at least. This is the 2.25" Hotshot DP, add 1/4" and also the flex joint is closer to the motor

Works great. I installed second time with new gaskets and such back in July, it's been very good. Also pay attention to how the collector bolts are shown, the install is easier if you put the bolt through the DP from underneath, nut on top - otherwise you have bolt head clearance issues with the primaries.

I will admit it was a giant PITA to install 2X due to the gasket issue and side pipe problem, the lack of a full seat for the flange allowed it to leak around the threads. That plus the leaking gasket made for O2 in the exhaust and flames out the tailpipe. My cat was already cooked anyway and a replacment was on order, just realize igniting unburned fuel past the header can melt a cat.

If I knew then what I know now, it would not have been a PITA at all.

HTH
