Thread: 2-G20 questions

Ive done a bit of searching and would like some imput on both my g20s. I have a 94 auto that runs fine but everytime i stop it dies, it starts right back up and runs great when you restart it. Ive heard it can be some kind of cam sensor? My other question is i have a 95 five speed that runs real rough in the low rpms. Ive had srs lone enough to know alot of them have this problem and i dont beleive its the usuaal throttle body/IACV issues like ive had on classics in the past. This will run great on the highway but will bog down somethign terrible at low speeds like taking of from a stop light. It mainly does it in first and second gear until you reach a decent speed. The plugs look fine and the wires are not old either. The only reason i think its a bit diffrent that the issues ive had in the past its consumng alot of gas like dropping form 27ish to about 15 mpg. I bought this car off of a forum member who ran the nissan based computer diagnosis on it and it comes up knock sensor . It didnt do this that bad when i got the car but its really doing the hesitating bad now...so much so i dont like to drive it. Could this be the knock sensor causing all this? It also has a permanent CEL on too. Thanks in advance for everyones info.

Yup, with a bad knock sensor the ECU will retard the timing to the point where it would be safe from detonation. It will run like crap though, burn a lot of fuel, and will be slow.

eBay has Genuine Nissan Knock Sensors for about $60. I would definitely score one, make sure it's OEM though.

LOL i just was searching some more and actually read some of your posts...this is my car and Josh really did some homework on it and diagnosing. If you like go through the thread and see if you still think its the knock sensor....thank you.

oh yeah and anything on the first car that runs good but dies almost every time you stop it. By most i mean 9 out of 10 lol
